Subject: The trip didn't go how I planned
My most recent trip didn't go how I planned. For me or for my family.
We headed to North Carolina a couple weeks ago for what was supposed to be a normal family trip. We'd visit my mother-in-law in the Piedmont then off to the coast to see my parents and my grandmother.
Then a family emergency hit. We had to stay longer than planned, cut things short in other ways, and I ended up taking more time off than I'd budgeted for.
Here's the part that mattered: I was just starting to onboard a new client when it happened. And neck deep in a pretty big strategic reset and some team changes with another client.
Normally that's the nightmare scenario. The thing that means you can't step out and keeps you at less than "present" in the work or the family situation.
But instead, I stepped all the way out for a good chunk of time. And Kim (big shout out to Kim) stepped all the way up. Onboarding kept moving. Nothing broke. I kept my call. And everything… just kept moving.
From there, I flew back to Elkhart, Indiana two days earlier than my family so I could catch up. I spent some time with my VP of Marketing (AI) so Kim can execute on my marketing vision for August & September. Client work, caught up.
Elkhart is the RV capital of the world, and it was time for some maintenance we'd been putting off. Months of rough roads had done real damage to the rig. (Seriously… see this text below from my husband.) So we paused. Got a new suspension system installed before going anywhere else.
Orvan is our amazing RV specialist at Amish Family RV. We’ve been coming to him for almost 3 years for our annual maintenance and more.
Secondary shout to MORyde. Not an affiliate… we just really like this upgrade. (And talk about an efficient, quality service.)
Not every day out here is roses and sunshine. Some weeks it's a family emergency and a business you can't step away from and a camper that needs its foundation reinforced before you can keep moving… all happening at once.
What I know is that none of this held together by luck. It held because of one system. A founder freedom system. And years of experience that told me I needed help even before I had clients so things wouldn't stop moving when I took a day off. (And also so I can focus my time where it's the most useful.)

Most of us build our visibility by creating content based on feeling. Or expertise. Or latest trends. Which works… until it doesn't.
And then the second things get busy, content is the first thing to drop. Visibility drops. You forget to follow up with leads. And the demand you built starts to dwindle.
Then you're scrambling, or you hand it to AI and hope, or you hand it to your team without giving them enough to actually run with… and now they're scrambling too.
The fix isn't more content. It's deciding, in advance, what you're actually focused on for the whole stretch ahead. Then, getting that out of your head. Reinforcing the foundation before you accelerate. And finally handing the “doing” to someone else, with enough context that it actually gets done (and a little support from AI that knows and understands all of that context).
This is just one part of what helps me disappear for a week and come back to a business that’s still running.
